1st Round Picks (part 2)

January 12, 2007

The remaining picks of the Major League Soccer’s 2007 SuperDraft

4. Real Salt Lake - Chris Seitz (Gk)
5. New England Revolution (from the Los Angeles Galaxy) - Wells Thompson (M)
6. Colorado Rapids (from N.Y. Red Bulls) - Nico Colaluca (M)
7. Chivas USA - John Cunliffe (F)
8. Chicago Fire - Jerson Monteiro (F)
9. FC Dallas - Anthony Wallace  (D/M)
10. Toronto FC (from Los Angeles Galaxy (from Colorado Rapids))  - Andrew Boyens (D)
11. D.C. United - Bryan Arguez (M)
12. New England Revolution - Amaechi Igwe (M/D)
13. Houston Dynamo - John Hayden (M)

The first round is complete and although most of the picks were expected, there were some surprises.  One interesting move is Los Angeles, who not only traded their 10th pick to Toronto, but also traded their 5th pick to New England for a portion of Clint Dempsey’s transfer fee from Fulham, could point to the fact that they might be working hard to fill their 2nd Designated Player slot with another attractive European name to join Beckham on the field in 2007.

More to come from the MLS SuperDraft and NSCAA Convention soon…

The 60th Annual NSCAA Convention opened up last night.  You would not believe the massive amount of products and specialized services specifically designed for the coaching and youth soccer community.  There is certainly an ocean of knowledge to be shared.  Some is certainly great and some not so great.  Over the next couple of days and weeks we will highlight some of the information we think could be useful for you.

Right now, we are awaiting the opening of the MLS Draft.  What a great spectacle especially with the recent announcement of Beckham and the anticipation of the new upcoming stars about to selected.  The MLS Fans are here in their kits, faces painted and all.  Stay tuned ….

NSCAA, MLS Draft, Garber Telecast

January 5, 2007

Next week our team will be traveling to the NSCAA Convention & MLS Draft.  We would like to know if there are specific topics you — the Soccer Community — are particularly interested in?  We plan to meet with various members of the community to uncover how ZZ might be able to help in 2007.

With FSC doing a live telecast with Don Garber it should be interesting.  We’ll see if we can get a short interview as well.  So, if you have a particular interest you want us to report back on, drop us a line and we’ll do our best.

Encouraging Words for 2007

January 2, 2007

As we set out to tackle a new year, I especially like the following quote by Marianne Williamson:

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others." — Marianne Williamson

This quote embodies the meaning behind our soccer battle cry "Get Stuck In".  Happy New Year!!!
